Overview

This information provides more guidance on the Frequencies domain.

The standard Monthly With Index frequency and the Monthly 10pa frequency both use special settings in one or more of the cells to specify index or combined issue publication. The other type of special cell setting is supplement.

索引

The publication of an index is indicated by the entry of an 'I' (upper case letter i) in the relevant cell, as with the Regularly Irregular - Monthly With Index frequency. This generates an additional issue called Index.

Issue title Publication date
Issue 11 November 2008 01 NOV 2008
Issue 12 December 2008 01 DEC 2008
Issue 12 Index 01 DEC 2008

Supplement

The publication of a Supplement is indicated by the entry of an 'S' (upper case letter s) in the relevant cell. None of the standard frequency codes include a Supplement setting. This generates an additional issue called Supplement.

Combined issues

As indicated on the Frequencies second page, there are 3 indicators you can use:

C

This setting should be used for combined issues where both the volume/issue numbering and the dates are combined. For example to combine a July/August issue simply enter 1C in the July field and 1C in the August field.

Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun
1 1 1 1 1 1
Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec
1C 1C 1 1 1 1I

Issues generated:

Vol 1 No 1 January 2008; Vol 1 No 2 February 2008; Vol 1 No 3 March 2008; Vol 1 No 4 April 2008; Vol 1 No 5 May 2008; Vol 1 No 6 June 2008; Vol 1 No 7/8 July/August 2008; Vol 1 No 9 September 2008; Vol 1 No 10 October 2008; Vol 1 No 11 November 2008; Vol 1 No 12 December 2008 + Index.

V

This setting should be used for combined issues where only the volume/issue numbering is combined. For example to combine a November/December issue simply enter 1V in the November field and 1V in the December field (note this is different from D usage).

Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun
1 1 1 1 1 1
Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec

D

This setting should be used for combined issues where only the date elements are combined. For example to combine a November/December issue simply enter 1D in the November field and D in the December field (note this is different from V usage).. If you enter DI ('i' for index) in the December field, then the resulting combined issue will be called Vol 1 No 10 November/December 2008 + index.
